Embark on an adventure among the waves, with an endless array of water sports right off the beaches at Caneel Bay. Our staff is also available to assist with instruction on how to use our complimentary, non-motorized water equipment, including:
Motorized water sports are available outside of the National Park boundaries and arrangements for these activities can be made through the Concierge.
If you’ve never witnessed the sun setting along sparkling Caribbean waters, there is nothing quite like it. Our Sunset Cocktail Cruise invites guests to undergo a seafaring journey along the shores of Caneel Bay every Thursday and Sunday at sunset. Take in the dulcet tones of steel pan music while indulging your appetite with hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
For assistance confirming activities, please contact the Concierge.
Explore the depths of the ocean first-hand and get up close to some of the region’s most stunning underwater life. Dive here and you might catch a glimpse of moray eels, sting rays and eagle rays, nurse sharks, spotted drum, turtles and of course, one of the earth’s most intelligent creatures, the dolphin. You’ll find an array of PADI courses available through the Patagon Dive Center, onsite at the resort. We feature everything from introductory Scuba Diving to professional certification as a Dive Master. And with our Young Explorers of the Sea program, the little ones will have just as much to explore.
If you have questions about scuba diving or a fish spotted on a dive, just stop by our Dive Shop and ask one of our PADI Pros. For more information visit the Patagon Dive Center.
Set off aboard a 50-foot Sloop on a half-day, full-day or sunset sail, departing right from the Caneel Bay dock. Our half-day sail offers guests a two-hour sail and snorkel stop, with refreshing beverages served onboard. Enjoy a full day and experience two long sails, one snorkel stop and a delicious lunch with drinks. Our sunset sail begins around 5:30pm, depending on sunset, and includes drinks and hors d’oeuvres. If you have a private party, we’ll work with you to design an itinerary for your group, of up to six people. For more information visit Sail Caneel Bay.

Set off for an unforgettable fishing experience. Navigate the shimmering Caribbean waters with fishing and boat charters accommodating groups of all sizes and types. We offer sport fishing, deep-sea fishing, inshore or offshore fishing, and more. One or two boats can be arranged depending on the group’s size.
Caneel Bay also offers charters for guests to sail around the island of St. John or to visit the nearby British Virgin Islands by powerboat. Charter a boat on your own or with a Coast Guard certified captain.
Discover what’s waiting on the British Virgin Islands with a chartered day trip. Let a charter serve as your gateway to the Baths at Virgin Gorda, snorkeling at Diamond Reef, an afternoon at Marina Cay, or an evening at the Soggy Dollar Bar. A current passport is required to both enter the BVI and then to return to the USVI.
