Relax in the shade on beautiful Turtle Bay Beach as Kat guides you through color theory, drawing and watercolor techniques. You will discover the process of seeing, exploring and capturing the world in paint — and be taking home a memory of your own creation! This extensive class prepares the novice with enough information and resources to continue painting on their own. All professional quality materials are provided. Class time is approx. 3 hours. There is a 3-person minimum for a class.
Kat, a long time resident of St. John, came to Caneel Bay as Resident Artist in January of 2001. Prior to this position, she was the founder and co-owner of Bajo el Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction. St. John has been her home for the past 19 years. Kat has been highly recognized and acclaimed for her watercolor and oil land- and seascape paintings as well as her portrait work and genre painting. A Fine Arts and Education graduate from The University of Michigan, she has taught primary- through college-level drawing, painting, design, pottery and photography. Throughout her career, Kat has been honored with many awards including the Michigan Council for the Arts Award. While in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kat owned East/West Design Studio and was an established publications illustrator and fashion photographer. The warm Caribbean sun beckoned, and she moved to St. John in 1986.
